Description

This non-contributory pension program aims to ensure a minimum income for older persons who are in extreme poverty and can not cover their basic needs independently. It also supports the provision of basic social services or additional features according to the recipient.

Target population

Older people (52 years or older for women and 57 years or older for men) living in extreme poverty and insufficient social security contributions.

The program includes older people who live with a relative and have a total monthly income lower than the minimum wage. Also, the residents of Elderly Welfare Centers (CBA) and the users attending a Day Centre are entitled to receive this pension.

It is delivered in cash and additional social services. Social services are considered complementary the development of educational activities, recreation, culture, tourism, sports and productive leisure which enables the busy, distraction and improving of the life quality of older people. There is also funding for funeral expenses.
